My wife and I had an incredible experience with Taryn and her crew. Every step of the process was seamless. From the pre-birth appointments to the personal check ins and suggestions for things like vitamins and natural supplement drinks to take leading up to labor. This was our second home birth, but first time with Taryn. She was above and beyond our best midwife. Would hire her again in a second (if we decide to have more children, jury is still out). A few hours after baby girl was born her blood oxygen levels were reading way too low and unfortunately we had to transfer to the ER at Baptist. But note, this is NOT due to having a home birth. Our birth was medically perfect in every single way and Taryn and her team went above and beyond to serve everyone in the room. Out of all the beds in the NICU at Baptist 18/37 of babies there were struggling with the same respiratory problem and all of those babies were most likely born in the hospital. Our baby girl is safe and sound at home today BECAUSE Taryn and her team did the important work of checking vitals and spending the time to make sure we were ok before her team left us that night. Which oh by the way was like 3 AM by the time they left because they stayed with us the entire time we checked into the ER, the NICU, and even after we got reports from all the doctors. We cannot recommend Taryn and the Spirited Birth birth center enough. From the initial interview to the day we gave birth, each visit and correspondence was thorough, personable, professional, and honest. The hourly appointments took into account not only baby but me, the mama and also my husband, which was a major difference from what we experienced with our first daughter. At each visit, it never, ever felt rushed and I had the platform to ask whatever question or concern I had (it was so nice to show up to your appointment each and every time and be seen on time). Taryn's responses were always professional and backed up with the latest, current evidence. Her ability to reassure me, especially given the state of the world we currently live in, was much needed. Once I was in labor, her responsiveness was commendable...and she was flexible based on my needs rather than the other way around. She met us at the birth center when I felt it was time to go (along with her providing her judgement based on my progress etc.) and provided such a calm presence the moment we arrived. During active labor, she was very attentive to my needs, coached us when we needed it, provided reassurance.

Taryn is such an amazing person. She was my midwife. She cared for me all around from growing baby all the way down to small emotions I was having throughout the pregnancy. My labor was long and got a bit crazy. But Taryn was there by my side making me feel safe and validated through every choice we made. Plans had to change to help keep me and my baby safe. I felt horrible that plans changes... But Taryn reassured me and kept us safe! She was there for me every step. She was the stable ground for me when everything seemed to be falling apart. I can't thank her enough.
