3 Best Museums in Phoenix, AZ

The Heard museum is such a high quality place to really enjoy Native American art! But, it goes far beyond art appreciation because they do a wonderful job in helping visitors to appreciate native American culture in the past as well as today. In the front lawn area, they have the American Indian Veterans National Memorial, the have provided an emotional installation about the Indian schools and many other important aspects. Importantly, their museum guides are phenomenal about the items included in the museum. If you are a visitor to the Phoenix area - this is a MUST SEE! If you appreciate Native American culture -- THIS IS A MUST SEE!

This museum is a jewel. The exhibits cover multiple tribes in the Southwest United States. These include the Apache, Navajo, Hopi and Yaqui tribes. The museum features paintings, pottery, clothing, dolls, carpet, masks, and films that provide an expansive overview of the First Americans. There is so much to view and learn and a museum like this is vital in the present day.

Marvelous museum, so glad we were able to go while I was in Arizona. Many interesting artifacts, artwork, exhibits from Native American artists showcased in several galleries. There are tours you can take with docents. We went through the museum on our own. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the state of AZ.

The Arizona Capitol Museum was a highlight for us. It’s completely free and packed with information about the state - from Arizona’s formation and early days to its political history and how things evolved into what they are today. The exhibits are clear and engaging, making it easy to actually learn without feeling overwhelmed. The building itself is fascinating: a small, old, and beautiful structure with real character. It’s especially interesting to see that this historic building is now preserved as a museum, while the newer building nearby is where the state government actually operates today. Informative, well maintained, and absolutely worth the visit.

FREE Museum. Free parking: on Google Maps enter Bolin Memorial park to access free parking. This was an outstanding museum that showcases Arizona's history and culture. The Bolin Memorial sculpture garden is an integral part of the experience. It was emotional when you go through the park and realize how much Arizonans have sacrificed in the wars we entered. It's a beautiful and dignified way to honor our soldiers and peace keepers. In the Capitol, I loved learning the history of the building, viewing the legislative chamber and the Arizonans who made major contributions to the state. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Really enjoyed visiting here. Beautiful architecture, interesting exhibits, and a calm, educational atmosphere. A great spot to learn more about Arizona’s history. Well-maintained, informative, and free to visit. Worth stopping by even if you only have an hour.
