“Dr. Walavan Sivakumar is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon who graduated from Southern California / Keck School of Medicine. He attained his MD with distinction from USC, being elected to the Skull and Dagger All-University Honor Society and Order of Arete, the highest honor given to a USC graduate student. He also served as student body president during medical school and was awarded the National Leadership Award by the American Medical Association (AMA). At the John Wayne Cancer Institute, he completed his fellowship in the endoscopic skull base, pituitary surgery, and minimally invasive neurosurgery, as well as his residency training in Salt Lake City at the University of Utah. He has a clinical interest in performing acoustic neuroma, a biopsy of the brain, biopsy of the skull, brain surgery, burr hole, pituitary, and skull base tumor surgeries. Dr. Walavan has presented several podium talks at meetings on the local and national levels and has received various cranial surgery and tumor biology research awards. Dr. Walavan Sivakumar is proud to have over 40 peer-reviewed publications, and he is an active member of the AANS and CNS. He is currently a member of the executive committee of the AANS/CNS section on tumors and the national young neurosurgeon's committee. He is accepting new patients.”
