Since 1930

Theatre Films Live Theatre Performances Historic Places Concerts Musical Productions Opera and Dance Programmes Private Parties Wedding Ceremonies

Paramount Theatre was built in 1930 by H. O. Wooten, adjacent to his Hotel Wooten. The theatre was built in an era when movie-going was meant to be a grand experience that transported you to another time and place. The auditorium space was designed to re-create a Spanish/Moorish courtyard at night, complete with projected clouds passing over a neon-lit night sky filled with twinkling stars. The theatre was restored in 1987 and renovated to accommodate live theatre, and it is now home to a variety of events, including film, ballet, opera, and concerts. For over 89 years, the theatre has stood the test of time as an entertainment showcase in West Texas. Paramount Theatre aims to preserve this unique historic landmark and enrich the community through its use. The theatre creates diverse programming that engages and encourages a wide range of patrons in the community.
