Here’s The Deal:
Paramount Theatre is an arts performing place located in downtown Abilene, Texas, at 352 Cypress Street. H. O. Wooten constructed the Paramount in 1930 adjacent to his Hotel Wooten. The Paramount Theatre was built in a period when movie-going was suggested to be a grand occasion that transported you to another place and time. The Paramount Theatre auditorium was designed to re-create a Spanish/Moorish courtyard at night, with launched clouds passing over a neon-lit night sky with twinkling stars. The theatre was restored in 1987 and renovated to accommodate live theatre, and it is now the home to a myriad of events, including film, ballet, opera, and concerts. The place is considered to be a famous place in the area.
