The Morris Museum of Art is committed to the continued interpretation of the culture of the South in all its forms. The museum has a permanent collection of 5,000 works of art, plus a wide variety of continually changing special exhibitions and public programs. The museum store has a wide array of artful gifts, many of which are handcrafted by Southern artists and artisans. On September 26, 1992, the Morris Museum of Art opened its doors to the public and attracted more than 10,000 visitors in its first three months of operation. Since then, the museum has strived to fulfill its promise to make the language of artistic expression in the South accessible to a large and diverse audience through dozens of exhibitions, programs, and publications.
