Kanapaha Botanical Gardens operates the Botanical Garden. The name for the garden comes from the nearby 250-acre Lake Kanapaha. The garden is a place to hold a premier Gainesville wedding venue with indoor and outdoor rentals for wedding ceremonies, meetings, wedding receptions, conferences, retreats, and other social functions. The Kanapaha hosts many special events throughout the year, including a Bamboo Sale and North Central Florida's premier horticultural event, the Spring Garden Festival. Dogs are permitted on leashes except during special events, like their Spring Garden Festival. Kanapaha walkways are especially wheelchair-accessible, and gazebos, benches, and different rest stations are liberally spaced throughout the establishment. Free admission for children under 5.
