"Kanapaha Botanical Gardens covers 68 acres of a non-profit facility composed of 24 major collections, visually accessible from a 1 ½ mile paved walkway. The garden is adjacent to the nearby 250-acre Lake Kanapaha. The garden is a premier wedding venue in Gainesville with indoor and outdoor rentals for wedding ceremonies, wedding receptions, meetings, retreats, conferences, and other social functions. Kanapaha walkways are largely wheelchair accessible, and benches, gazebos, and other rest stations are liberally spaced throughout the facility. Kanapaha hosts many special events throughout the year, including a Bamboo Sale and North Central Florida's premier horticultural event, the Spring Garden Festival. Except during special events like their Spring Garden Festival, dogs are permitted on leashes.

“Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo is a 10-acre zoo that is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The zoo is coordinated by ten full-time staff members and is home to over 70 different species of animals. Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo is maintained by about 100 students enrolled in the college's premier Zoo Animal Technology program. The zoo connects people with wild animals and helps them learn about and conserve wild animals in their natural habitats. The public can visit any day of the week and see the amazing things they do for animal conservation and human education. The zoo aims to transform passion for turtles into effective conservation actions through a global network of living collections and recovery programs. Tourists can enjoy the Bald Eagle, White-throated Capuchin monkeys, American alligators, Matschie's tree kangaroos, and parrots, to name a few. KANAPAHA BOTANICAL GARDENS REVIEWS

This is a wonderful garden to see some really amamzing bamboo fields and exotic flowers. It is pretty large and you can walk around freely and take multiple pathways throughout the property. Full of rose gardens, rock gardens and ponds with a touch of Florida's sinkholes. Nice little place to stop in for a couple hours. The staff was very kind.

We had an amazing time. What a beautiful garden and very well taken care of. Plenty to see, beautiful bamboo area, children's play area, and selection of flowers and trees. A wonderful experience on any day and he bought me the cutest capybara backpack for me and a gift. So cute. Thank you for a lovely location.

This place is a breath of fresh air. It’s so peaceful and calming. It makes you want to be one with the nature. The bamboo, flowers, and other plants were just beautiful. The scenery was also amazing for some great portraits.

SANTA FE COLLEGE TEACHING ZOO REVIEWS

Amazing zoo with great staff! It's a very clean zoo and it's lay out to see all animals is great! Monkeys, birds, boars, snakes, turtles, Nyala, and so much more! There was a massive peacock walking around the paths, beautiful animal. I suggest! 10 dollars per adult and and 6 bucks with seniors and small children.

A must-visit when in Gainesville! While it’s not huge or anything, this zoo has a family of gibbons, which honestly make the trip for me every time. They also have an eagle, lemurs, lots of birds, tortoises, and more. Also recommend their annual brew at the zoo event.

Awesome little shady zoo. Can't beat $10 per adult these days. Keepers were friendly and had lots of cool information about the animals. They also have a nice little playground for the kids.

HARN MUSEUM OF ART REVIEWS

This is a lovely and very airy art museum. They have a pretty diverse collection and the collection includes some big name artists too. I would definitely recommend stopping in. I do have two minor complaints; one is the wall of Asian art pieces did not have descriptive placards next to the pieces. There was a book to look through to find information, but the information was sparse. Second, while I appreciate the need to change up the collection from time to time, they had no artwork from their permanent collection of African art on display. Overall, my favorite room was the Florida artwork. I enjoyed seeing this beautiful state shown in different styles and viewpoints.

First of all let me just say THIS IS FREE. FREE.99. 100% OFF. And that’s a lot for what you get, beautiful paintings and sculptures, highly recommended the Asian culture section if you’re into different religions and mythology’s like myself.

Beautiful art in this museum. Children's activities. Saturday dance lessons! Indoors and outdoors.
