“Maidu Museum & Historic Site is an interpretive center that is dedicated to public education about the Maidu people. The museum sits at an ancient site where Nisenan Maidu families lived for 3,000 years. They offer visitors a unique combination of a world-class museum and a 6,000-year-old native Californian Indian village site. The museum gift shop offers books about native Californians, handmade jewelry, minerals, arrowheads, other cultural artifacts, and many nature-related items. Inside the museum, you'll find exhibits portraying the Maidu way of life. The museum presents interactive exhibits and displays, and the outside trail wanders through the historic site. Parking is available along the street in front of the museum and the Maidu Activity Center parking lot.”
