"Dr. Greg Thorkelson is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in child, adolescent, and adult care. He completed his adult psychiatry residency at Temple University and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh. He has additional clinical training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia. Dr. Thorkelson is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and previously served as Medical Director of Behavioral Health at The Children’s Institute in Pittsburgh. He has extensive experience with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and specializes in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for mental health disorders. Dr. Thorkelson has authored multiple book chapters, co-authored nearly two dozen publications, led workshops for Fortune 500 companies, and provided expert commentary for various media outlets. He is the founder and Medical Director of the Nexus Group, where he offers individualized treatment approaches tailored to each patient.
2026 Update: Dr. Greg Thorkelson is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. He holds a European TMS Certification and completed a Visiting Fellowship in Electroconvulsive Therapy at the same institution. He is also a founding member of the Center for Mindfulness and Consciousness Studies at the University of Pittsburgh, where he teaches residents, fellows, and medical students."
