She specializes in treating people with obsessive-compulsive and anxiety-related disorders. Dr. Katie Merricks completed additional training at the University of South Florida's (USF) Rothman Center for Pediatric Neuropsychiatry, where she provided treatment to patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder, trichotillomania, excoriation, and many other anxiety-based disorders. She also utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with exposure and response prevention (ERP) to provide the best evidence-based treatment possible to her clients. Dr.O'Brien truly cares about your mental health! I have been going to Dr.O'Brien for a year due to Depression and Anxiety and thoughts of self harm due to multiple debilitating diseases! My pain has robbed me of life as I used to know it and I started believing I was a burden on my wife and family! I decided to find a Psychologist as a last ditch effort before I did something that would be devastating to myself and my family. Dr.O'Brien has given me the tools to look at life in a different light. He is real and extremely caring.

I have known dr. Steve since I was 10 years old and I will never ever go back to anyone else. I stopped seeing him for awhile and now I'm going back to him and I'm 22 years old now. That should tell you something.

By far one of the best psychologists in the area. He doesn’t give off that “fake concern” vibe that many therapists convey. He is sincere and truly cares for all of his patients.

Dr. Merricks is an incredibly compassionate therapist who worked with me during the year my physical and mental health deteriorated at an accelerated pace. I was unsure how to recover as I needed more than therapy and she was always there for encouragement to keep trying the next thing until I found relief. She is also very prompt at communication via her patient portal whenever I needed help (which was very often during this year). I highly recommend her expertise in CBT and working with you to improve your situation. One of the best.

Dr. Merricks and her team of providers are compassionate, professional, and highly knowledgeable regarding evidence-based mental health practices. I refer to their team often and highly recommend their services.
