2026 Update: The Griffith Park Riverside Drive multi-use trail project includes the construction of three pathways. The plan adds two pedestrian paths measuring six feet wide and one multi-use path measuring ten feet wide. The project includes new interpretive and information signs, along with direction signs using universal symbols. Improvements also apply to the trail entrance areas from Riverside Drive, Griffith Riverside Recreation Center, and Sunnynook Bridge."

"Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area spreads over 338 acres of parkland, including significant native coastal sage scrub habitat, a fishing lake, a community center, landscaped areas, and five miles of trails. The park has active recreation facilities, including one fishing lake, two lighted baseball diamonds, one sand volleyball court, one half basketball court, one lit multi-purpose field, and one organizational structure with a meeting room. Passive recreation includes 100 picnic tables and eight picnic rental shelters throughout the park. There are eight large barbecue pits and 60 small ones spread throughout the park. Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area features multi-use basketball courts, playing fields, walking and jogging trails, picnic areas, and playgrounds.

2026 Update: Visitors can book campsites, tours, and special events. The park hosts a free summer concert and movie series with live music, family-friendly events, and paid performance opportunities for bands at multiple park locations"

GRIFFITH PARK REVIEWS

The hiking is fantastic and definitely one of my favourite spots to do so. I forgot how much I loved and missed it until recently coming here. Great memories and amazing views. The hikers on trails are very nice and some trails have water fountains to hydrate and fill bottles. On occasion you can even find yourself on an outdoor movie or TV set, filming in progress. The old zoo is really cool and amazing how little room the animals had back then. I would recommend this to any hike lover.

Griffith Park is very large and right in the heart of Los Angeles. It has multiple hiking trails and picnic areas for everyone. It is popular with cyclists, especially on the weekends. You can also go horseback riding! There is also an area with trains that the kids can explore. There is a great hike that will take you all the way up to the Observatory.

KENNETH HAHN STATE RECREATION AREA REVIEWS

Hadn't been in this park for years, I was really surprised it is really clean. It's nice to spend time with the family or special occasions, you can also go for a walk. Week days is free entering. On the weekends you pay depending on vehicle type for a regular car you pay $7 for entering. Just keep in mind you can go although way up to the top floor it is not much people there.

Kenneth Hahn is a great place to see hummingbirds. They have a dedicated hummingbird area. It is an expansive park that also has a lake. It’s great for solo, group, family and couple hangouts. It’s also walkable so hiking here is pretty easy. There’s lots of outdoorsy things to do at Kenneth Hahn but keep in mind parking is not free on weekends. If you are an LA native or just visiting, this park made my top 5 parks you must see while in Los Angeles. Oh it’s also a good place for a picnic and bird watching. I filmed parts of my Canada geese documentary here and enjoyed the process.

Fantastic park with a very interesting story! Absolutely loved strolling around here, enjoying the different playgrounds and multiple picnic locations. I especially enjoyed the hummingbird area which is just fascinating. Thank you to all the volunteers that put in the extra work and hours to make this so enjoyable!

I was there for the SEIU/ UTLA rally. It's a nice park. Pretty big in size and close to the train. It's a great place to shoot videos and movies. Also a good spot for family fun.

Beautiful Park directly across from City Hall. I visited a local protest, to register voters.

I good place to spend some time in the middle of the city.
