Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens was started in 1966. The Zoo was developed to create an environment and dynamic experiences to connect people and animals. The Zoo has over 1,100 mammals, ducks, amphibians, reptiles, and over 250 different animals. The botanical collection includes many cultivated gardens with over 7,400 individual plants and over 800 different plant species. You can visit the forest trail for stunning views of all facets of the tropical biome of South America. It contains naturalistic habitats and enriches educational opportunities with a lush and beautiful environment. The Zoo provides free docent-led walking tours for members. Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens afford free entry for children (under 2).
