The park has three official soccer groups in the Ironbound, representing over 750 players and 42 teams. The park's design emphasizes winding walkways and tree-lined promenades, creating a pleasant environment for visitors. The park has swings, frisbee, playgrounds for kids, and adult jogging trails and walking paths that are separate from each other. Nearby the park, there is an ice cream truck. People enjoy the ice cream and the summer days.

2026 Update: Independence layout features a symmetrical design centered around a gazebo-style bandstand surrounded by walking paths and landscaped areas.
