Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, while being different than what most would consider a “state park”, still has much of the charm and beauty (albeit in a different way) known in most of Tennessee’s State Parks. The park rangers are incredibly friendly and willing to help anyone in need. The Tennessee Timeline wall is in depth and highlights all the different things that occurred throughout the state. It’s a fantastic place to spend an afternoon, with plenty of food options surrounding the area.
This park is a great way to enjoy the outdoors. Lots of open grass to relax or take a walk around to learn some history of the state. There is also a farmers market attached for good, reasonably priced food indoors or a market and other items outside. There is a nice amount of free parking but imagine it fills up quickly on weekends.
Great history markers, definitely interesting to see the history of Tennessee throughout the years. Also enjoyed the WWII memorial here, very moving reading all the markers. Definitely a must visit if you're driving through.
