In recognition of his significant contributions, the center was christened in honor of James R. Lloyd, a former state senator and Fairmount Park commissioner. Among the amenities available at Lloyd Hall Recreation Center are a water fountain, a café, bike rentals, indoor basketball courts, public restrooms, an information center, a reception hall, and a public terrace. Additionally, the center boasts a gymnasium that hosts diverse activities. The Cosmic Cafe, situated within the premises, offers patrons a wide selection of refreshments. Notably, Lloyd Hall has replaced Plaisted Hall as the primary public building on Boathouse Row.
