“Dr. Ryan Andrew Hankins has clinical expertise in enlarged prostate (BPH), kidney stones and urologic oncology related to kidney, bladder and prostate cancer. He also specializes in men's health including erectile dysfunction and penile prosthesis surgery. To improve patient outcomes and satisfaction, he is skilled in the use of minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Dr. Hankins attended the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where he was awarded the distinguished J.K. Robinson award for outstanding achievement and service. He next completed an internship in general surgery at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital followed by his urology residency at MedStar Georgetown and MedStar Washington Hospital Center. While a urology resident, Dr. Hankins also trained at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Children's National Medical Center and the D.C. Veterans Affairs Medical Center. At NIH, he conducted research in surgical approaches to multifocal kidney cancer and has given presentations on the topic. Dr. Hankins delivers individualized diagnosis and treatment strategies while providing an empathetic approach to patient-centered practice.
