3 Best Veterinary Clinics in Akron, OH

We recently had our “Ellie” put down. Ellie had been going there since she was 3 months old. She was almost 14 years old when she passed. The staff and quality of care throughout the years and up to the final moments, was always thoughtful, compassionate and caring. Thank you Buckeye staff for everything.

Best experience, for me and my dog Diogi who didn't know it at that time. He had long nails and needed a rabies shot. The vet had to muzzle him ever so gently cause he nipped at her,the vet tech and I had to hold him down , he's a very spoiled dogger but won't let me touch his nails to save his life, she cut them down so wonderfully he's so happy now. I have used this vet for over 10 yrs. I appreciate everyone there.

Very friendly staff, currently takes awhile to get an appointment (Not a complaint , but sometimes when you find a good doctor appointments takes awhile) But every employee is pleasant, great bedside manner , and reasonably priced. Nothing but good things to say.

Over 35 years ago Dr. Riggs performed a challenging surgery to remove a growth on the inside of my 43 year old parrot’s beak. His knowledge, caring, concern and endearing service to his “craft” is the ultimate combination all pet owners search for. The caring, concern and upbeat approach by his staff only adds to the supportive commitment that surrounds his practice and most definitely the Metro facility. One cannot review one facility without reviewing both. The emergency care, staff and facility exudes a level of expertise even for the most unusual pet. After a few minutes it becomes abundantly clear the techs and specialty vets are well qualified in the animal they are treating. That becomes even more apparent when the owner is allowed to spend quality time if the pet is staying at the facility overnight and being transferred. This is an experience very few other owners have at other medical facilities. Medical facilities for humans can take a lesson on efficiency, caring and concern from Metro. We are blessed in this state to have both Highland Heights and the Akron facility. All facilities including the hospital on Richland are examples of the medical excellence we all desire for ourselves as well as our pets!.

Our pup was very sick. We rushed her to Metro and I told the receptionist I thought she was bleeding internally. They sent someone right out to access her and took her right back. She was bleeding internally from a ruptured spleen and she was operated on very quickly. She developed some heart arrhythmia and worked to get that stabelized. They saved her life and let us visit her every day until she could come home. I couldn’t be more pleased with the care and compassion she received. Every doctor, tech and CS rep are top notch and I can’t thank them enough for the care our girl received.

If you have a bird of any kind as a member of your family…. This is one of the best avian veterinarian on the planet. Dr. Riggs Is a world renowned bird vet!. And the rest of the staff are absolutely fantastic as well. You can’t go wrong bring your bird to this clinic.
