3 Best Bakeries in Ventura, CA

Delicious !!!! Brenton was so kind and generous delivering a sample of the new mushroom coffee drink. The staff at the front register helped me decide what to try for lunch and were super smiley and upbeat. I highly recommend stopping at this cafe.

I love this place. It has multiple locations. I like all of them. The one across from the Pacific Mall is the one that I saw first and still the one that I like best. It's never over-crowded. It sells a wide range of bakery items, some of which (like the loaves of sourdough bread and rye bread) that you don't find in most other cafes. The girls at the cash counter are helpful, friendly, and efficient.

Picture this: it’s Friday morning, you’ve already put in 60 hours of work since Sunday, you haven’t eaten since lunch the day before, you’re sleep deprived, and you are also juggling being your mum’s chauffeur because she broke her leg and so you’re rushing to get her to her PT appt. You call Cafe Ficelle to place a rushed order from the car so that you can feed her before you drop her off. They can tell you’re rushed and kindly assume that you’ll pay in pick up. You get to CF, park, and stroll in like you don’t have a care in the world. Somehow the ladies behind the counter still know it was your rush order and you don’t question it. Grab your food and drinks and are excited for a little treat before you get back on your computer to work some more. You ponder aloud - how did they know it was me Weird. Then you catch a glimpse of yourself in the rear view mirror as you back out of your parking spot. Your face is covered in white streaks of sunscreen that you slapped on before you ran out of the house- you look like a drunk person who tried to put on clown makeup. Your pony tail looks like a rat’s nest. And you realize to your horror- that’s probably how they knew and they didn’t say a word- just tried to make my day a bit easier. True kindness! The food and drinks are 10/10. The almond croissant is to die for. But the staff are what make it the best kind of neighborhood cafe.

The pastries were delicious, and the Latte was wonderful. I have never had a hot chocolate like theirs, absolutely recommend this store.

I had a great time enjoying a drink and a pastry when meeting up with a peer. It was easy to find parking and the entrance and easy to choose what I would like to have. I have continued to enjoy coming to this location.

The best baked items in the area. I love how these are not super sweet. Some of the other bakeries use so much sugar that it's overwhelming. These are more traditional homemade style items that are a rotating menu and based on availability of what's coming out of the oven. They are flavorful but not overly sweet like Cafe Ficelle which I just can't stand because it's too sweet and too much sugar. My only area of improvement I would recommend is the coffee. They use a very dark roast which is a little darker than I like and probably a little darker than what most average coffee drinkers would appreciate. I wish they had a medium roast option as well for their coffee drinks. Overall my favorite spot in the area and I stop in here all the time from work.
