'Basilica of St. Louis, King of France' is one of St. Louis' most historic structures, with origins from 1764. The new structure is the fourth church on the site to be erected. Construction began in 1831 and dedicating the church in 1834. It is the oldest building in St. Louis 'City and the only remaining building in the hands of its original owner, St. Louis' Archdiocese. It has always been a place where people of all religions, including those of Jewish faith, are accepted and nurtured, as shown by the Latin and Hebrew inscriptions on the church facade.
