“Gwynns Falls Trail is a unique urban walking trail that provides access to Baltimore City's scenic and historic greenway valley. This is an excellent place for exercising, hiking, walking, running, and picnicking. The trail has an elevation gain of 288 feet and is of the out-and-back type. The parks along this trail encompass 1,200 acres and contain approximately 20 miles of paths that wander up and down the parks' slopes. The Greenway also includes more than 2,000 acres of publicly managed parkland within the stream valley of Gwynns Falls and features one of the largest woodland parks. The trail connects more than 30 communities to the west and southwest of Baltimore, providing access to parks, urban areas, and cultural resources. Trailhead 1 is near the City-County line at the I-70 Park & Ride. From there, the trail mainly follows the Gwynns Falls stream southeast to the Middle Branch and Inner Harbor of the Patapsco River's Northwest Branch.
