"Blacklick Woods Metro Park is a 643-acre park that is a great spot to have a beautiful view of a variety of songbirds, waterfowl, and other wildlife. The park includes six hiking trails. There are plenty of parking spaces, and the trails are excellent and extensive enough to accommodate a vast number of people. This is one of Central Ohio's best remaining beech-maple forests and a buttonbush marsh. Blacklick Woods Metro Park's forest area is laced with trails that wind through a swamp forest. The trails include woods, fields, seasonal swamp ponds, a small prairie, and a golf course. There are huge picnic tables and restroom facilities for visitors' comfort. This park is pet-friendly.

2026 Update: Blacklick Woods Metro Park hiking trail passes through a swamp forest with oak, white ash, red maple, elm, shagbark hickory, bitternut hickory, and dogwood trees. It includes wooded paths and opportunities to see wildlife along the way. A canopy walk crosses through the tree tops about 40 feet above the ground. The area also offers picnic spots and other outdoor activities for visitors."

"Sharon Woods is a 761-acre ideal destination for family and friends. The trail combines forests and fields with towering oak, hickory, and beech trees and an 11-acre lake. The total length of the trail is 3.9 miles, which is generally considered an easy route. The elevation gain of the trail is 141 feet, and it is a loop trail. Numerous seasonal ponds offer valuable spring breeding habitats for amphibians and other wildlife. The park features spacious playgrounds for kids and dog-friendly trails. Sharon Woods ensures a fantastic photo opportunity and a wide range of animals throughout the park. The park also allows dogs in leash areas.

2026 Update: Sharon Woods includes a lake, jogging trails, and nature walking paths, along with playground areas for children. It features wooded trails where visitors may see wildlife and provides spaces such as gazebos, picnic shelters, grills, and multiple picnic areas. Facilities include restrooms with running water and drinking fountains. The area supports activities such as walking, hiking, cycling, and rollerblading, and also has a designated dog-friendly trail. Catch-and-release fishing is available in the lake."

"Blendon Woods Metro Park is a 653-acre park that offers a waterfowl refuge, a nature center, disc golf, and ice skating. The total length of the trail is 2.0 miles, and the elevation gain of the trail is 141 feet. It is a loop-type trail. The trail features elegant stream-cut ravines surrounded by beech-maple and oak-hickory woods with exposed ripple rock, sandstone, and open fields. Blendon Woods Metro Park is also a perfect place to have a beautiful view of songbirds, fowl, and other wildlife. The 118-acre Walden Waterfowl Preserve, with its 11-acre Thoreau Dam, provides a sanctuary for hundreds of birds, wetlands, and other wildlife. The park also features two elevated shelters for watching waterfowl, with spotting scopes.

2026 Update: Blendon Woods Metro Park area around Thoreau Lake serves as a habitat for many birds, ducks, and other wildlife. It has wide, well-maintained trails and shaded sections that make it suitable for walking in warmer weather. The path is paved, making it accessible in different weather conditions. Visitors can explore a nature center that features small wildlife exhibits, including salamanders and other pond species, along with friendly staff. The lake area includes observation points and bird blinds for viewing wildlife such as herons, turtles, and ducks. Seasonal wildflowers like goldenrods and asters can be seen in late summer and early fall. The park also includes a chimney swift tower. Park entry and general admission are free, and parking is also available at no cost. Visitors can access hiking trails and the nature center without any charge. All public areas, including the canopy walk, are open for free use."
