Serene waters surround you once you set off on the paved trails around our central CT reservoir in Farmington, CT. In addition to the super fresh air, you can bird watch (saw a bluebird Monday!), walk your pooch, and scout for deer and other friends. Come as early as you can for rhe best critter viewing. Good to bring water and a snack as the Red loop can take one hour. Far right lane reserved for bikes so be mindful where you walk. Happy walking or riding!
Big parking lot, 3 porta potties, well marked paved trail, easy, wide walking, runnung, biking trail good for families, going solo, as a group. You'll see strollers, folks running, riding their bikes and many being walked by their dogs :) On a perfect weekend day the parking lot fills up as this is a very popular area. The red loop is about 3.4 miles.
Incredible trails, and beautiful views. The hike up to the top is somewhat difficult but is well work it for the views. The trail was covered in occasional fallen branches/trees from hurricane Isaias, but nothing you can't walk around. The day we went, we saw a baby deer on the trails and it walked right up to us!!

RIVERSIDE PARK REVIEWS
We parked under the Founders bridge/street park (free) and walked up the stairs to the bridge. It was a relaxing stroll with beautiful view of the river from the bridge and its surrounding from the bridge. There’s an elevator to go down to the paved trail throughout the park. There are limited grills and picnic tables, there’s playground, sandbox, volleyball space boat launch, benches all over the park to rest or just sit back, relax and enjoy the panoramic view. There’s plenty of ground to play with friends and families. Excellent place to enjoy and bond with loved ones.
Lovely place to enjoy forest trails and the Connecticut River. There are also grilling stations. Please remember to pick up after yourself!
Clean, nice views of the city. Good for hiking trails, has playscape for kids and benches throughout. Plenty of free parking.

TALCOTT MOUNTAIN STATE PARK REVIEWS
The trail is well maintained, the first half it's a bit challenging if you are not athletic, however there are many places where you could sit and take a rest. The Heublein Tower on the top of the mountain is awesome, worth visiting. With a good pace it takes about 40 minutes to hick from the parking location to the tower on the top.
Great experience. Many, many families with children, dogs. Need more benches to rest. It would be helpful along the way up to have signs how much further to the top, or which trail to take. Pretty overlook, but need safety barriers, to prevent falls I think. Please remind dog owners to bring water up the mountain.
Such a great hike. Very steep in the beginning but levels out a bit as you go on. The views from the top are well worth it. There are bathrooms at the bottom of the trail by the parking area as well as at the top near the tower.
