This is a great park to take the family and dog. It's also a great start point for the plethora of Mountain Biking and Hiking trails on the East side of Franklin Mountain. There is plenty of parking on regular days, the lot fills up on weekends in the morning, but there is parking along the street. There is also a pay station for the State Park and some porta potties if you have to go.
We started our hike to the tin mine from the trailhead at the park. Beautiful entrance, don’t forget to pay your entrance fee at the drop box before you enter. The hike was great, it’s not a short one so beware, bring plenty of water and probably a snack. We did not and were hangry when we got back to the Jeep. Also beware of the bikers!
Biking and walking and hiking trails. Beautiful views. Excellent star-gazing and cottontails, deer, skunk, rattle snakes, tarantulas, quail, roadrunner and more. There is also a nice park for the kids to run and have fun.
