It's a must visit place for people who love science and even otherwise provides great scenic view with access to trails all around the hill. Just that you might have to walk uphill from the road side parking as this place can really get crowded. The planetarium is a must watch. The narrators there are simply amazing
Such a great variety of hiking trails- we did a nice easy 3 hour hike starting from the carousel parking lot all the way up to the vista plateau and stayed there for enjoying the view of the observatory and downtown LA. We got a bit twisted up on the way down but made it eventually- a peaceful, calm hike.
Griffith Park more than anything provides a breathtaking view of Los Angeles throughout the times it is open. On some days you can even see the ocean from up there! It’s also a great place to hike. Of course the Observatory is up there too though parking up there isn’t free.
