Absolutely beautiful trails leading from high bluffs to right down to the edge of the mighty Missouri river. No dogs are allowed, and birds are everywhere. Keep an eye out for poison ivy, saw a fair amount near the trails, and one trail was impassable due to a fallen tree. It was so refreshing to not hear any noise other than calling birds and the wind through the cottonwood trees!
Lovely place for a quiet hike with views ranging from the Omaha skyline to the Missouri riverfront. I nice variety of trails that are well maintained with a wide variety of native plants to appreciate. There’s a no dog / pet policy specifically for encouraging a quiet hiking environment. Managed / maintained by Fontenelle Forest.
Pretty place. Lots of oak trees. Numerous trails of varying challenge levels, well marked. Maps available at the parking lot. One route takes you to the banks of the Missouri. If you're not a member, do bring a $5 for the fee box to support the facilities.
