Great place to visit right in Amarillo and when you don’t want to do the whole Palo Duro experience. The have a few hiking trails to try on as well as their nature center. There’s a fee of a few dollars to get in and to walk the trails. Just in front of the center is the 3 mile long old Soncy rd that it is now a paved exercise trail for both walking and cycling. Be advised that unlike Palo Duro, bikes are not allowed at Wildcat Bluff trails. Also you’ll need to be mindful that there are rattlesnakes in the warm and hot months and also a herd of cattle shares the trails.
The Wildcat Bluff Nature Center has a nice variety of trails to choose from, and is a good place to spend a morning or afternoon. The staff I encountered was friendly and helpful, and the trails were well marked. I will make it a point to stop by whenever I am in town.
Had a lovely couple hours walking around the paved path with my grandma. Looking forward to coming back and checking out the hiking trails.
