3 Best Indian Restaurants in Newport News, VA

Loved our meal here at Aago tonight! We are trying every Indian restaurant in the area, and each has its special qualities. The food was absolutely fantastic, with a huge variety and selection of dishes including some specialties we had never seen before, like the cashew (Kaju) curry and some Goan dishes prepared with coconut. We ordered the paneer tikka masala and the malai kofta - both outstanding vegetarian entrees - as well as the veggie pakoras and garlic cheese naan. Everything was delicious, including the achar (hot mixed pickle). They offer a combination dinner for two which we didn't choose because we weren't incredibly interested in the soup and dessert, but it was a good value anyway and we might try it next time! We got ours 3 out of 5 spicy and loved the heat and flavor but both agreed we might try 4 next time! Excellent service despite a pretty full house on Saturday night. A veritable army of bus staff kept the turnaround efficient from what we could see, and the food would be worth a wait anyway. Our host was really helpful and friendly, we enjoyed our time there and the family friendly atmosphere. Will definitely be going back to try some other vegetarian delights soon!

We absolutely love this place! We eat here every week and can’t get enough of it, the food is fresh and delicious, the service is excellent and it’s so cozy and welcoming. Each visit is a treat and we leave stuffed with tons of leftovers and the best part is my spouse gets great vegan dishes and I get the tandoori chicken and we’re both happy!

Always an excellent choice...service is top tier, food is always fresh and delicious...atmosphere very cozy..this visit i had the Tandoori Salmon..the salmon was cooked to perfection...juicy, soft, well seasoned...I also had the masala tea.

Excellent, authentic southern Indian cuisine! Nicely varied menu. Friendly, efficient service. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. Well lit. But with food of this level of excellence, I'd love to see them in a place with atmosphere to match. We only went there the first time because we happened to be in the strip mall for another errand and I was getting hangry. I didn't have a Snickers, so we opted to check this place out, despite it not looking very promising from the outside. But were we ever glad we took a chance on it. We've been back twice more, and will likely keep going back, despite it being 30 minutes away from where we live.

First time customer at the restaurant and the food is sooo good. I told my husband we need to find a good Indian restaurant on this side of the bridge. We tried Nawab, Aago, & Electric Monsoon before, but it doesn’t beat this Indian Restaurant! Very fast service, & delicious warm meals. The only worry is the restaurant is a bit small, but Amirtha’s by far the best & you won’t be disappointed.

I almost hate to leave a review for fear this little gem will get discovered by more and ruin it for me, but they deserve the compliment - one of my favorite restaurants in the area!
