MIDDLETON PLACE REVIEWS
Amazing plantation with knowledgeable guides and tons of history. We visited early October and the weather was spectacular. Did Beyond the Fields and Guided Garden Tour. Both were included in the admission price. Ate lunch in the restaurant which was wonderful. Our wait staff was engaging and attentive. (No tax on the bill!) Learned so much about slavery and history of the plantation. The trees alone were worth the visit. One was 1,000 years old! I highly recommend.
What a wonderful place to visit. It has great trails throughout the property, and it is so peaceful and beautiful. It is truly a step back in time. I loved the trails that were bordering the Ashley River.... phenomenal! A huge Osprey dove down, caught a fish, and flew right by us. So cool! We did not do the house tour, but I was perfectly content outside with the beautiful topography and interacting with all the animals, most excellent visit!
Incredible tour with lots to do! My husband and I spent 6 hours walking around the beautiful property, ate an incredible lunch and toured the main house. So many beautiful things to look at and a lot of rich history. Make sure to say hello to Arthur, the resident stable cat!

DRAYTON HALL REVIEWS
I had visited Drayton Hall over 50 years ago, around the time of National Trust start for this preservation and restoration. Back then I felt I stumbled on to a hidden treasure. Now the grounds are pristine, the public entry, parking welcome center are appreciated improvements. When I found that Drayton Hall is now open with guided tours and encouraging archaeological digs in progress, I knew this tasks of preservation there were going to be immense. I've sought out Villa La Rotonda in Vincenza, Italy and even London's La Rotonda. To Palladio: you've made a big impression!
Recent trip to Charleston and Drayton Hall was on our list. Very interesting history. Our guide was informative and was able to answer questions. Not sure if they ever intend to add gardens but I think it would enhance the visit to the property. There is a black cemetery on the grounds that is easy to miss. Our guide mentioned it and I asked for the location.
There has been some great improvements at Drayton Hall over the last few years. New gift shop visitor Center and bathrooms. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Williams Mansion is a beautiful historical museum in Charleston, SC. The historical place was built a century before, the ground on which George Walton Williams would build his home was hallowed in the tradition of optimistic patriotism. Mr. Williams built a grand residence at 16 Meeting Street as a testament to his desire for Charleston's re-emergence from the Civil War. The historical place required the talents of hundreds of otherwise unemployable local artisans and craftsmen for its creation and craftsmen from Baltimore who were experienced in the contemporary woodwork and fresco styles of the Gilded Age. Williams Mansion's largest residence boasts 24,000 square feet of Gilded Age splendor, including some of the city's most spectacular woodwork, moldings, and craftsmanship.

Amazing place with a truly unique story. Very cool what the current owner has done with this historic property. The gardens are beautiful as well. The tour guide (s) - I think there's only two - was outstanding and it was clear that he really enjoyed the property. Everybody visiting or living in Charleston should visit it.
Gorgeous architecture. One of the many reasons to visit this beautiful city. I feel really blessed that I get to live here and walk down and take pictures of these beautiful buildings.
Well worth the price, a thorough and well done tour. Phenomenal pieces of artwork and history that continue to amaze even more with every room.
