CHARLES TOWNE LANDING STATE HISTORIC SITE REVIEWS
This is a large, beautiful park with tons of history. Multiple walking paths with great scenery. Staff was friendly. Recommend listening to the audio-tour as you walk through the park. Historical recreations were interesting, educational and well maintained. Enjoyed the small zoo as well. When we went, there were archeological digs you could visit at designated times. Took about 4 or 5 hours to see everything, including the zoo. Very enjoyable experience overall.
The grounds here are so beautiful. Lots of trails to walk, a little zoo, a little ship for the kids to explore, and historical educational stops along the way. There are benches and picnic tables, and a nice visitors center with restrooms and a little store.
Genuinely one of my favorite spots in Charleston. It’s a gorgeous scenic walk, with a lovely little zoo full of some animals you don’t typically see as well as familiar favorites. I didn’t take many pictures because there’s so much to take all in! There’s a very nice gift shop as well.

WEST ASHLEY PARK REVIEWS
This is a huge park with soccer fields, ponds and trails. There is some paved and some more in the trees with smaller trails, whatever your fancy I think most would find it relaxing and makes for a good walk or ride with your bike. Lots of parking spaces.
Perfect amount of trails for meditative walks, and great fields for sports and workouts. You can even fish here. Give it time if it had rained, the fields get waterlogged and the paths swampy.
This is such a great park. Walk here all the time with my son. There are 2 parks, walking trails and fishing spots, as well as fields for sports.

JAMES ISLAND COUNTY PARK TRAIL REVIEWS
A very well maintained camp with loads of things to do. They have a kids' playground, splash play area, hiking trails (with fun story quest for going kids), bike and boat rentals, and other fun activities (select days) The restrooms next to the playground were maintained very well. The ones next to the campground needed better maintenance. The staff were friendly, informative and helpful. Well worth the USD 42.5 for the tent spot. Playground: Large playground with loads of things to do. Restrooms: Central area very well maintained. Next to the campground needed slightly better maintenance
Great place for the kids. Nature walks, coastal forest and wetlands. Good open fields for fun times. Fishing inshore and freshwater. Amazing playgrounds for 2 to 12 y/o and a now reopened free 'spray play' fountains. Good events too ????
Holiday Festival of Lights has a delightful light display and cheery Christmas music. Definitely stop at one of the parking lots and walk the inner circle to view more lights or take a train ride. Fun for all ages.
