Chestnut Square Historic Village is a well-established place in McKinney, TX. The Historic village is a collection of six historic homes, chapel, a replica of a one-room school house and store on 2.5 acres just south of downtown McKinney square. The period artifacts have take part in the building and indicating how people lived in Collin County from 1854-1940. Their mission is to preserve history, educate the community, and inspire the future by providing educational programs, tours, meetings, special events, and a picturesque venue for weddings, and social gatherings. The grounds also include a blacksmith shop, a smokehouse, and a reception house and reception gardens. The Heritage Guild of Collin County manages Chestnut Square Historic Village. Chestnut Square hosts community events that bring people together to celebrate their heritage.

COLLIN COUNTY COURTHOUSE

Here’s The Deal:
Collin County courthouse is one of the famous places in McKinney, TX. The Courthouse was part of Jack McGarrah's general store in Buckner. The County courthouse was established in 1846 when Collin County. When the county seat was changed to McKinney in 1848, a log structure was built on McKinney square. William Davis donated land from his survey for a town and a public square for a courthouse. Collin County Courthouse was replaced in 1852 with a two-story, wood-frame structure. In the southeast of the square, the courthouse was built a couple of blocks in 1979. It was six stories high and modern in design. In the Hatchell Building's west, an additional administration was built after former County Commissioner Jack Hatchell.

John and Judy Gay Public Library is one of the most prominent in McKinney, TX. The Public Library strives to offer something for everyone.
