" Chestnut Square Historic Village has a collection of six historic homes, a replica of a one-room schoolhouse, a chapel, and a store on 2.5 acres just south of downtown McKinney square. The site also includes a blacksmith shop, a smokehouse, a reception house, and reception gardens. The buildings include period artifacts showing how people lived in Collin County from 1854 to 1940. The Heritage Guild of Collin County oversees Chestnut Square Historic Village. The site's aim to preserve history, educate the community, and inspire the future is accomplished by providing educational programs, tours, special events, and a picturesque venue for weddings, meetings, and social gatherings of all kinds. Chestnut Square hosts community events that bring people together to celebrate their heritage.

2026 Highlights: Chestnut Square Historic Village has a Chapel, a garden which has seating for up to 75 guests, and a Bevel House Reception Hall, which is a restored bungalow. "

CHESTNUT SQUARE HISTORIC VILLAGE REVIEWS

We love the Chestnut Square Farmers Market! It has so many great vendors. You can find local artists, bakers, produce and more! I love that they always have activities for kids. My son enjoyed the most recent Farm Day. There was a tractor for photos, activities set up to teach about farming and produce and a planting seeds table. They have clean restrooms right off the square and plenty of shade to help beat the heat this summer.

Stopped by to soak in some history and was really impressed at how well this place is maintained. The website for the walking tour is well done and provided us about an hour's worth of strolling and learning about the buildings.

I attended a wedding there and was left in awe over the historic Chapel, gardens, reception hall. The property is beautiful for weddings and events, a true hidden gem of Downtown Mckinney.

JOHN AND JUDY GAY PUBLIC LIBRARY REVIEWS

Nice library. We get books held weekly. The app is easy to use and I get email updates when my books are ready to be picked up. Interlibrary loans are a nice feature where you can request to borrow books from other city libraries if Mckinney doesn't own a copy. They have fun events for kids. My kid has enjoyed those events at this library and Hall downtown. The pirate event last summer and the carnival were his favorites. I wish they would do more with the kids area. They don't have to go big like Frisco, but it would be nice if they had something to do in the kids room other than tables and board books.

Amazing and Huge Library with tons of each variety Books.. They in fact have a Robot to find the desire books. Plenty of parking around the library and most importantly it is free for everyone with no cost at all... Please note their Library account is digital and will be in an App not physical card etc.

Thank you John and Judy for organizing the program, Passport spring break.It did have an initial setback with audio but the staff and volunteers kept it going. The kids had Fun.

This is a lovely historic building, rich with history and staffed by wonderful folks who genuinely care about the city and this building's legacy. The rich, detailed woodwork, the fixtures, the appointments and the furnishings are all original. I recommend you visit (tours are given twice weekly and by appointment) to immerse yourself in this bygone day beauty.

Beautiful house, loved the tour. The tea lunch was very good. A very nice afternoon visit.

Beautiful place! I attended a lecture on famous women in art bu Karla Peska and enjoyed it very much.
