“Florence Ranch Homestead is one of the most famous landmarks in Mesquite, TX. The Homestead was built by David Walker Florence in 1871. The late 19th century rural Texas architecture's original structure is consider as a fine example for its main chimney, across the back a story and a half clapboard home with shed rooms available and a gallery across the front. Florence Ranch Homestead was probably conceived from carpenter's handbooks instead of architectural renderings. In the Museum, family, friends, and locals help construct the home. The house underwent expansion during the 1890s when the Florence Homestead encompassed an area of 730 acres. The farmstead remains a famous educational museum for children and adults and is a beautiful place to learn about the city of Mequite's history.
