“Stamford Old Town Hall is a lavish Beaux Arts structure that was designed by the New York City architectural firm of Mellon and Jossely in 1905. The building houses the office of the mayor, city officials, the police station, the courthouse, and even a horse stable. The building has five levels across three stories that include floor-to-ceiling windows, a stunning grand divided staircase with iron-rod railings, a Czechoslovakian glass ceiling above the staircase, terrazzo tile flooring, and scagliola plaster on the lobby walls. The building's exterior is limestone-faced, flanked with Corinthian columns, and topped with a large clock tower. Stamford Old Town Hall was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. In 2008, the building was renovated, and now it accommodates multiple uses, including long-term commercial rental, public exhibition space, and event rental space.”
