" Fort Vancouver National Historic Site preserves and interprets the history of the Pacific Northwest, including the reconstructed 19th-century Hudson's Bay Company fort. The national historic site also includes Pearson Air Museum, which interprets the history of aviation in the Pacific Northwest through exhibits and collections. The visitor center is operated by the National Park Service and provides information and interpretation about the site. The historic area consists of two units that were designated as a national historic site in the 1940s. Fort Vancouver National Historic Site offers free admission and ample parking.

" Marshall House aims to inspire civic pride and economic vitality through education, preservation, and celebration of its community’s history. The house was named for General George C. Marshall, who served as Commander of Vancouver Barracks. This Queen Anne Victorian home was once the home of George C. Marshall. The house is ideal for small to medium-sized groups, but you can greatly increase the capacity when rented with the surrounding lush grounds. Marshall House accommodates small to medium-sized groups, with additional event capacity available when the surrounding grounds are included in a rental. Marshall House provides a historic setting for wedding and event photography.

2026 Highlights: Marshall House is listed on the Clark County Heritage Register in 1985 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. Free parking is available in a paved lot across from Marshall House to the South. ADA parking and entrance are available on the backside of the house. Tours run approximately 40-60 minutes. "

The cabin was originally owned by Richard and Charlotte “Anne” Covington and remains a historic property associated with the early settlement of the area. The property is available for rentals and provides a setting for intimate gatherings and private events. The Covington House is ideal for those seeking a setting that is understated, distinctive, and deeply rooted in local heritage. In 1848, the Covingtons filed a donation land claim covering 640 acres in the Fourth Plain area. The Covington House is owned by the City of Vancouver and managed by the Clark County Historical Museum. They also offer rental features where hosts can organize intimate gatherings. ”

FORT VANCOUVER NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE REVIEWS

This was such an interesting NHS to visit. There is a small admission fee but the overall outdoor and indoor grounds are fascinating. It’s intersting to see the blacksmith at work and talking about some of the pieces used and created. Well worth a visit if you enjoy history and have NP passport.

Lovely national historical site right across the river from Portland and off the Columbia River. There’s a self guided tour where you can walk in the old buildings of the fort. Next door is an air museum and there is a house where Ulysses Grant lived.

Awesome fort! The area is amazing to sit and have a nice picnic. The staff at fort Vancouver were extremely nice. Can't wait to bring my family down.

MARSHALL HOUSE REVIEWS

A few houses down from the Grant House where the Willful Bistro Cafe restaurant is located is the Marshall House where Army General George C. Marshall resided and it's the only house on the district that was designed by an actual architect instead of normal Army standard designs. This house does tours Wednesday-Friday 10-2. They also conduct similar tours at the Providence Academy on the other side of the I-5 freeway from Fort Vancouver which used to be a church and school in the mid-1850's.

The Marshall House was the perfect choice for our event. The space is beautiful, cozy, and intimate - ideal for social mingling. The staff is extremely professional and responsive. Communication throughout the planning and execution of the event was superb. I could not be happier that we chose the Marshall House and The Historic Trust for our event. I highly recommend this venue and will happily use it again in the future as occasion arises.

I have walked by this building my entire life wondering when I would get to work on it. Finally the historic trust called for a chimney inspection. We took care of this beautiful work of art with craftsmanship and attention to detail. It's such a privilege to work of meaningful architecture.

THE HISTORIC COVINGTON HOUSE REVIEWS

This is a great historic home which was moved from orchards in the 1920s. Is not large, and when it is open there is no fee to visit. It is also available for rent for private events. You can see the numbers on some of the logs which they labeled so they could reassemble them when they moved the building. The floors are still original, through they look in great shape. This is the oldest house in Washington.

Great place for events with 50 people or less. On-site kitchen for use as well. Feels homey and cozy. Have had several memorable family holiday parties here.

This is a great little spot for meetings and is a great way to give basic to the historic part of Vancouver. There is a great story behind this house.
