We really enjoyed our tour & visit of The Carlyle Historic House in Alexandria VA recently. It was a nice surprise to find it close by to us. It was a perfect Sunday afternoon activity. We love visiting historic sites & learning more about our history!! Such a wonderful surprise!!! Thankful it was restored & preserved for us to learn and enjoy!!
This guided tour was worth every cent we paid (which was only nominal anyway). Beautiful home and our guide gave us TONS of history behind the construction, the family, and many connections to Alexandria and the area. I was so engrossed in the tour that I forgot to take photos, except this one of the outside courtyard.
A fantastic historical gem. The birthplace of the concept of taxation without representation that ultimately lead to the New World's separation from English rule. Beautiful Garden outback...take the indoor historical tour but don't miss the garden.
