“Grinter Place was constructed by Moses Grinter, one of the earliest permanent white settlers in the area. The historic home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house was home to him and his half-Lenape (Delaware) wife. In 1971, Kansas purchased the property, which the Kansas Historical Society now administers as the Grinter Place State Historic Site. This picturesque farmstead overlooks the historic Delaware Crossing on the Kansas River and offers ample space for meetings, events, and parties. The Historical Society manages various sites in different locations throughout the state. Admission is free for Kansas Historical Society members.”
