“Dr. Michael M. Haglund is a board-certified neurosurgeon by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He earned his MD, neurosurgery residency, and epilepsy surgery fellowship from the University of Washington. He has been providing neurosurgical care at Duke Health since 1995. By involving his patients in their own care through careful histories, examinations, and a thorough review of imaging studies, Dr. Haglund can use that process to determine whether conservative care or possible surgery will relieve their pain and help them return to living their best lives. He has performed over 6,500 cervical spine procedures and approximately 350 cervical spine surgeries per year, focusing on excellent outcomes and short stays. Based on his outcomes, Dr. Haglund has been recognized as the top cervical spine surgeon in the country by MPIRICA Health Inc. As a faculty member at the Duke-NUS Global Health Institute, he works with neurosurgeons in Singapore and Myanmar. He is also available at Duke Neurosurgery of Raleigh and Duke Raleigh Hospital.”
