“Dr. Luis Manuel Tumialán received his MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Emory University School of Medicine and his internship at Naval Medical Center San Diego at Balboa. He is a member of the AANS/CNS Joint Section for Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerves, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Dr. Tumialán’s expertise includes minimally invasive spine surgery as well as cervical and lumbar arthroplasty. He has a special interest in the minimally invasive management of spondylolisthesis and serves as the primary investigator for the SLIP II trial. Dr. Tumialán has performed over 1,200 minimally invasive motion-preserving lumbar and cervical decompressions and 800 minimally invasive lumbar fusions. He is the author of more than 70 peer-reviewed journal articles. Dr. Tumialán was awarded the Naval and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his service in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.”
