"Cedar Rapids Museum of Art aims to engage, educate, and excite visitors through the arts. The museum acquired the former Cedar Rapids Public Library building after the library relocated. Cedar Rapids Museum of Art has an impressive collection of over 7,800 works that span multiple eras, housed within the museum's walls. In December 1989, John Carter Brown, the then-director of the National Gallery of Art, officially opened the new Cedar Rapids Museum of Art by cutting the ribbon. The CRMA holds an AAM accreditation and specialises in American art, particularly from the first half of the 20th century. The museum offers complimentary visitor parking in the CRMA parking lot located on the Second Avenue side of the building. It also provides a summer camp programme where participants can explore their creativity through ceramics, glass, mixed media, sculpture, and painting.

2026 Update: Cedar Rapids Museum of Art supervises housekeeping and contractor personnel while managing museum grounds and facility maintenance, including a historic building, to ensure a safe, secure, and well-maintained environment for the collection, staff, visitors, volunteers, and the public."

PARAMOUNT THEATRE REVIEWS

Great experience here! We saw Orchestra Iowa perform Video Games Live and wow we were blown away! This is our second time here and we will definitely be back again and again! They have a great variety of performances. Last time we were here we saw Orchestra Iowa perform music from Harry Potter. The theater itself is beautiful and well kept! There is a bar and concession stand on the main level selling alcoholic drinks, pop, and snacks. The staff is friendly and helpful! Would highly recommend.

I don't know what we'd do without The Paramount Theatre during the winter doldrums. It's great to get out and visit the arts and entertainment venues, and The Paramount is a class act! We recently attended the Black Jacket Symphony's production of The Beatles' Abbey Road. They were excellent.

It's like taking a step back in time, to a point. The building is spectacular! Great place for small concerts, not a bad seat in the house. Will definitely go back for another.

Very informative and knowledgable staff! Everyone was very welcoming and as we only had a short time to spend there they were able to give suggestions on what to see quickly. Quality exhibits and gift shop with great gift ideas. Worth the stop and perfect location to then walk around an explore more of the Czech Village.

Visit to the National Czech and Slovak Museum. Museum is a Smithsonian affiliate and had an immigrant house, Faces of Freedom, Mucha exhibit, and selections from their 50th anniversary collection. Well done.

Always good to remember how our ancestors emigrated to United States, how hard it was to start a new life here without knowing the language . Nice and renovated museum with good vibe.

CEDAR RAPIDS MUSEUM OF ART REVIEWS

CRMA is a lovely museum. It makes up for its small size with the quality of its collection and the special exhibits they bring in. If you are a fan of the early 1900s regionalism paintings, you will love their collection of Grant Wood and Marvin Cone painting. If you want something more modern, then the prints of Mauricio Lasansky are fantastic.

This was an amazing, quiet and subtle museum. The instructor was kind and very helpful. This museum carries a variety of 21 authentic Roman portrait busts, ranging from deities to commoners. It is a pleasant exhibit and is definitely worth the experience. I recommend Cedar Rapids Museum of Art to locals and travelers.

Very nice museum. My daughter's art was available to buy in the Art-o-Mat machine, and she was in town from South Carolina. Very helpful front desk.
