Attended their special evening exhibition and reception. What a great event! Exhibition of Japanese Encampment during WWII was both thorough and touching. The human spirit shines through those artifacts even after more than 70 years! Staff at HAHS continues doing great jobs! (BTW, good time to shoot the hippest restaurant in Hayward area!).
What a cute little way to spend your time during the day on a weekend. We just happened to stumble in after eating breakfast in the attached Cafe. The museum is free for at least the next two years! It was sweet to see all the old school utensils and tools that were used in the mid-1900s. Also, it was really cool to see how a cannery works, even though it was the children's exhibit. We stayed for a free presentation about African American civil liberties, then and now. We ended up winning a calendar in a raffle, and staying for 4 hours! It was a delightfully surprising day.
Good place to know about Haywards history. Small coffee shop here. Small gift shop. Free admission.
