The Houston Zoo is a 55-acre (22 ha) zoological park located within Hermann Park in Houston, Texas, United States. The zoo houses over 6,000 animals from more than 900 species. It receives around 2 million visitors each year and is the second most visited zoo in the United States, surpassed only by the San Diego Zoo. It is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Earl was a bison that was donated in 1922 and he would be the first animal of what is now the Houston Zoo.
The Houston Zoo is an incredible facility, offering a comprehensive and engaging experience for visitors of all ages. The detailed animal studies and information provided enhance the educational aspect, making it an enriching visit. Families can easily spend an entire day here, thanks to the diverse range of exhibits and well-cared-for animals. The clean environment adds to the overall positive atmosphere, making it a top-notch destination for wildlife enthusiasts.
Fun zoo prices aren’t too high fun for the family and even for a date. The animals are easy to see and don’t have to spend your all time searching for them. Information and educational. OK loved it. Holiday lights is a little boring but fun experience at least once I like the reptile house nice selection of snakes and spiders. I haven’t seen the new Galapagos exhibit yet, but I’m excited to go soon to experience.
