"Houston Museum of Natural Science is an excellent science museum with a magnificent array of geological specimens, a fossil skeleton, models of space stations, and a planetarium. The museum's principal collections date from 1914 to 1930. There are 120 specimens in the Museum, comprising 42 species of birds and 28 species of mammals. You may also visit the IMAX cinema and a six-story butterfly center, where these lovely creatures rest quietly on their outstretched wings. The museum attracts more than one million visitors per year. The museum also operates the George Observatory in Fort Bend County, which has one of the country's largest public telescopes. Houston Museum of Natural Science affords free admission for members and children aged two and under.
