Specialty:
"Woodward Park spans a remarkable 300 acres and is named after Ralph Woodward, who generously donated a portion of his estate to establish a Fresno bird sanctuary and regional park. The park offers a wide range of amenities, including five miles of scenic trails and three playgrounds suitable for everyone. It is also home to a beautiful, authentic Japanese Garden, a disc golf course, and a BMX course. A highlight of the park is the Rotary Amphitheatre, a shaded outdoor pavilion and multi-use venue. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks around the lake or venture onto trails that connect to the Lewis S. Eaton Trail.
2026 Update: Woodward Park's major highlight inside the park is Shinzen Friendship Garden, a Japanese-style garden developed through Fresno’s sister-city relationship with Kochi, Japan. The garden features koi ponds, seasonal landscaping, waterfalls, traditional Japanese architectural elements, and quiet walking paths designed to reflect the nature of seasons. The park is widely recognized for its extensive outdoor recreation options. Visitors can explore multi-use trails connected to the Lewis S. Eaton Trail system, which supports walking, jogging, cycling, horseback riding, and nature observation along the San Joaquin River Parkway."
