2026 Update: Highland Park conservancy works closely with Monroe County to preserve the park’s historic character while encouraging public involvement through events, tours, and restoration projects. One of its major initiatives focuses on rebuilding the historic Children’s Pavilion, which was originally a signature feature of the park’s views. Highland Park itself has deep historical roots dating back to the late 1800s, when land was donated to establish a public arboretum and park system. The park became part of a larger vision shaped by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, whose design emphasized natural landforms, gardens, and panoramic views."
