The park was designed as a modern urban park with landscaped lawns, seating areas, and pedestrian-friendly walkways. The ark includes public art installations, fountains, and an amphitheater-style event space and is built to improve connectivity between downtown Toledo and the riverfront area."

"Middlegrounds Metro Park covers 28 acres and offers a 1.5-mile meandering walk, bike path, and tranquil views of the Maumee River. The park is an excellent place for children to connect with nature. The Metro Park is a perfect place to spend time with friends and families in their free time. Middlegrounds Metro Park is an excellent place to walk, have a BBQ, rent a shelter house, fish, or watch the river. The park has gym equipment, wheelchair access, ample parking, and a kids' playground. The park includes picnic tables and open spaces for gatherings. The park is designed to be accessible, with a paved parking lot, accessible trail surfaces, and benches along the route.

2026 Update: Middlegrounds Metro Park stretches along about a half-mile of riverfrontage, starting near the Anthony Wayne Bridge and extending through downtown river edges. The park includes quiet natural areas mixed with open recreational green spaces for relaxation. Park has a designated off-leash dog park with separate zones for large and small dogs, and provides a kayak access point (cove) for launching into the Maumee River for paddlers. It includes a bike-share hub for public cycling access and offers picnic areas, open lawns, and shaded rest spots for visitors."

PROMENADE PARK REVIEWS

I recently visited this park and had a wonderful experience. It’s a peaceful, well-maintained green space that’s perfect for families, solo visitors, and anyone looking to relax or enjoy some fresh air. The walking paths are clean and wide, making it easy to stroll, jog, or bike around without feeling crowded. There are plenty of benches and shaded areas to sit and enjoy the scenery, as well as open grassy areas for picnics or playing games.

Very nice! Loved the different levels of grassy area to put your lawn chairs ,you can see very well from most areas! Perfect night out with the water in the back and the food trucks that were at the event were great.

Beautiful, especially during the Christmas time. I got the cutest little pics and videos with my family here tonight! Wonderful tree lighting too! Beautiful overall and kept super clean, especially for an area in downtown toledo.

Lovely park high above the Maumee River. A great view to watch the water fowl, boats, and the reconstruction of the islands within the river.

Beautiful walking path overlooking the mighty Maumee River. Surprisingly beautiful place to be with amazing trees and wildlife. The biggest ginkgo tree I've seen is here.

My favorite Park in the city. Offering plenty of places for kids to run off steam. Romantic and awesome riverviews. Nice trail to walk dogs, cycle, run, jog, or walk. Plenty of picnic tables, grills and porta potties LOL.

MIDDLEGROUNDS METROPARK REVIEWS

This park is the spot for the best views of Downtown Toledo! It’s right on the water with just over a mile of trails and very dog friendly! The park is never too crowded, and you get amazing views of the city skyline and the bridge! Also a great spot for fishing, bbq, or picnic.

Very pretty. It was nice to find mushrooms growing. Despite being in the city, it was relatively quiet and relaxing. Will look i to renting the pavilion for future get together as well.

Great riverside park with a pavilion and restrooms. Very nice walking trails.
