“2026 Update: Dr. J. Wesley Turner, M.D. earned a B.S. from the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and an M.D. from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. He completed a general surgery internship and a urology residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Turner has practiced urological surgery in Alaska since 1994 and was a founding partner of Alaska Urology in 1997. He has authored numerous scientific and clinical research publications and has delivered oral presentations in his field. Trained in minimally invasive surgical techniques for conditions affecting the prostate, kidney, and female urinary system, he has specialized in da Vinci robotic surgery since 2005. Dr. Turner holds hospital privileges at several Alaska medical facilities and previously provided care to Alaska Native populations through the Alaska Native Medical Center, traveling extensively across the state. He is board-certified by the American Board of Urology and is affiliated with numerous professional organizations, including the American Urological Association, the Alaska State Medical Association, the Anchorage Medical Society, the Society of Robotic Surgeons, and the Western Section of the American Urological Association. Sometimes because of ALL the massive overload of work that our Doctors and Nurses have to take care of (plus all of our first responders) you have to take initiative and make some phone calls and get things started. Regional and EVERYONE WORKING THERE ARE AMAZING!!! My husband was first diagnosed with bladder cancer, Dr. Logan took care of him. Then he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and everything had to stop with the bladder until the tumor was addressed. Yes I had to make phone calls and get some very important things started, but I'm my husband's biggest fan and I will do everything to make sure he is taken care of and everyone who we have been in contact with has been an amazing blessing to us, our Radiologist, our Oncologist and the Neurosurgeon and every single person it takes to help an office run perfectly. I thank them all and I will always tell people about them.

My husband has been a patient of Dr. Allen's , for many years. Way before his affiliation with the Alaska Urological Institute. I as his spouse, have been treated with respect. There have been several occasions that we have had to reschedule his appointments. I have never felt that it was an inconvenience. From the time my husband arrives for his appointment until the conclusion, he is treated with the utmost respect. The staff is always very friendly and willing to help in any way that they can. I for one, am very grateful for Dr. Allen and his staff. As is my husband.

Dr. Allen was outstanding. I didnt feel a thing during my vasectomy, and I had zero pain after either! I was playing basketball with my daughter the next day! I would send everyone here.

I met Dr. Turner on a Thursday and he discovered I had cancer. He was able to schedule me for surgery the next morning at his surgery center. All the staff did a great job, were skilled and respectful. Now cancer free for six years and very grateful! He also has a sense of humor and does not rush you in and out of the office, and that makes yearly visits relaxed and enjoyable.
