The second best thing was going to Hazelden. It's a beginning, it's not a solution. So don't fool yourself into thinking they will solve your problems. But I can honestly promise you, if you open yourself up and surrender all of your B.S..you can and will heal. I had suffered a stroke and was in a coma for 3 days before I admitted myself. If I would have continued to drink, I would not be typing this right now. I would be dead. You don't have to suffer alone anymore, I did that for way too long. So Im telling you, love yourself for a change. Look in the mirror at yourself. Are you ok with what you see? You can and will get better if you are truly willing to. And no--you can no longer do it on your own. How many times have you already tried that? Trust me, my name is Kevin and I owe my life to this program, the wonderful staff and the community of people who accepted and embraced me.

Hazelden taught me how to live a healthy life again and gave me my life back. They addressed the poor coping skills that landed me there and gave me new ones. I continue to have nothing but the best of experiences with the staff at the St Paul location. I am grateful to so many people, but I do want to mention the incredible nursing department. Laurie was a mentor to me at center City, and a big part of my decision to stick with the program.
