THE WHITNEY REVIEWS
Fantastic experience and gorgeous ambiance with unique architecture and history! We greatly enjoyed our elegant Sunday Tea Tony, the manager, along with the entire staff, was extremely hospitable and Tony entertained and enthused us with his stories of the ‘paranormal’ activity! The Grand Premiere Tea was a culinary experience of a lifetime. I couldn’t wait to come back for dinner, so I was back for dinner last night. Everything was phenomenal! I had the seafood sauté which was delicious and packed with scallops, lobster, shrimp! Be sure to check out their PPSC program, which includes a complimentary surf&turf birthday dinner (almost the value of the membership itself), $25 dollar gift card, and SO much more!!
Had a lovely tea at the historical Whitney. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The tea itself was very nice. Note that the Whitney's tea service does not allow for a custom tea selection, though you can request a decaffeinated tea. What is nice is that you have a tea pot and warmer on the table for quick refills-- though our attentive server did most of the refilling for us.
Easily the best meal I have ever eaten! The entire experience was phenomenal. Our servers, both in the bar upstairs (a really cool experience in itself) and Regan in the restaurant, were both excellent! Even the manager made us feel welcome and made sure we had a great experience. The building itself is absolutely gorgeous.

The Apparatus Room is a popular restaurant that serves New American fare and craft cocktails in an industrial-chic space. The restaurant is located at the Detroit Foundation Hotel. Blending old with new, Apparatus Room serves new American cuisine with carefully crafted cocktails and esoteric wines inspired by Chef Rece Hogerheide's roots in Midwestern ingredients. They invite you to step away from the Downtown bustle, enjoy a fine meal and the easy taste of an Old Foundation, and relax to the homely chatter of new friends. Their signature dishes are Maine diver scallops and hazelnut-crusted wild Atlantic cod, ras el hanout scented rack of lamb, and smoked whitefish caesar. Their cocktail program is classically focused with inspiration drawn from the history of the building and the city itself. The ingredients may be familiar, and the presentation is simple and classic, though each cocktail has a deeper story for those who have time to listen. Crispy Fried Cauliflower, Braised Short Ribs, and Chicken Sandwich are highly recommended dishes. Dine-in and takeout are also available.

THE APPARATUS ROOM REVIEWS
I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday over brunch at the Apparatus Room. I had known about The Apparatus Room but this was my first time experiencing the true gem that it is. From the open-air, loungey dining room vibe, to the musician trio’s elegant tunes, to the thoughtfully curated and delicious food, to the impeccable, seamless service that Gerard delivered, my guests and I had a memorable, jovial, and heart-warming experience. The staff even signed and Gerard delivered a birthday card, making the overall experience that much more exquisite. So glad to have spent my birthday here, will absolutely be back to enjoy the pleasantries of this amazing establishment and its staff, including Gerard.
We’ve never been before and recently stopped in for what was going to be a “quick drink and maybe an appetizer”. A few drinks and appetizers later, I can honestly say, I found my new favorite hangout spot AND new favorite food! The atmosphere is amazing, the staff is incredible…so kind and attentive, and every bite of food was like nothing I’ve ever eaten before. If you enjoy beets, the beet carpaccio is the most delicious dish I’ve had! I savored every-single-bite and could without a doubt, could eat it everyday! I’m already looking forward to going back!!!
Really nice spot! The food and drinks were really good. I enjoyed the location and the chicken sandwich was fire! I would def recommend this place. My 2 year old son enjoyed the spot . The ascetic and food were top tier. Kid-friendliness: My 2 year old son was treated well by staff.

SELDEN STANDARD REVIEWS
Visiting Selden Standard was an exquisite experience that left me thoroughly impressed. The highlight of the meal was, without a doubt, the amazing stuffed pasta. Each forkful was a revelation of flavors and textures, beautifully crafted to showcase the depth of culinary expertise. But the surprises didn’t stop there - the Cod was particularly exceptional. Its preparation was impeccable, offering a delicate yet rich taste that was both satisfying and sophisticated. Everything about the dining experience, from the attentive service to the ambient setting, contributed to a memorable evening. Selden Standard truly stands out as a gem for anyone in search of culinary excellence. It’s not just a meal; it’s a journey through flavors that are carefully designed to delight. Highly recommended for those who appreciate the art of fine dining.
Cannot go to bed tonight without writing this review first. Sat at the bar and service was impeccable. Bartender/waitstaff really knew the menu well. Ordered the trout, beet salad, and gnocchi all of which were flavorful and texturally perfect. For dessert, ordered the upside down carrot cake and pavlova. Ate every last bite even though we were already full. We will be coming back and bringing friends!
We had an excellent dinner here while in town for work. The service was very good. Our server, Mark, took great care of us. Drinks and the meal were delicious. The gnocchi was my favorite, but every dish was cooked and presented well. The 4 stars for atmosphere was simply because the music was too loud. It was very difficult to converse without yelling.
