A must stop by! I am sure that I do weekly. Whether it’s to pick up some fresh sour dough bread, an organic farm fresh salad or my favorite - honey oat latte and a pecan roll, I am always so impressed with the consistency of deliciousness they deliver. It’s not just a bakery, but also has spectacular sandwiches and soups. For me, its the perfect combination of sweet and savory selection is undeniably a TREAT - every time!

La Mie is one of my fav breakfast spots in Des Moines! It’s always busy and sometimes it’s hard to find seating, but that is just a testament to their popularity! The staff does a great job at cleaning and turning over tables. On this occasion I enjoyed the southwest scramble and turmeric latter. I always get pastries on my way out because they’re huge and great for sharing.

So fresh! One of the best croissants I’ve ever tried. I ordered the egg, avocado croissant with provolone and added mayo! The sour dough bread vey soft. I gave the atmosphere 4 only due to seating and some confusion where the lines start.

A fantastic coffee shop in the heart of East Village. They have plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Their drink choices are solid, my favorites are the Honeybee or any of their teas. They have great lunch options! They mostly have salads and sandwiches, but all very tasty and the portions are great for the price. The best part is their wide assortment of baked goods. The cookies and pinwheels are top notch and their various croissants are always a strong pick. I come here at least once a week, if not more. Highly recommend.

Literally amazing — the blueberry pinwheel was so flaky and delicious. The service was top-tier as well & the decor was so cute and on-trend. The owner, Katie, is super nice and even recommended places around Des Moines to visit for our trip! Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Went here for a sweet treat on my birthday, absolutely loved the coconut oat bar!! We also got a chocolate croissant and it was very yum. The service great and there were lots of kind, social people inside the shop - will be returning!

I ordered a 10-inch chocolate cake for my 30th birthday, decorated with black, purple, and glitter frosting, and it was absolutely stunning! The cake itself was incredibly decadent, with a rich, thick texture and an amazing flavor that exceeded my expectations. You can really tell that a lot of time and effort went into making it perfect. The customer service was top-notch from start to finish—ordering was smooth, pickup was easy, and the entire experience was great. If you're looking for a beautifully made, delicious custom cake, I highly recommend ChaCha's Hiland Bakery. I’ll definitely be coming back for future celebrations!

If you are in need of cakes and other baked treats I highly recommend Highland Bakery. It’s situated in a historic neighborhood in Des Moines and offers great service, great food and a fun cozy atmosphere. We recently order a cake for our Christmas party and they did an amazing job. We let their cake decorator “surprise” us and we couldn’t be happier. Great people, great customer service and great baked items. Thank you!

I purchased a cake for a special celebration and they were great to work with. I changed my mind a couple times leading up to the date and was super particular but it was absolutely no problem for them! Almond cake with raspberry filling was excellent! Thank you so much!
