Athens Church

Our first visit to this place or any church other than my home church I have to walk in faith to get over a few hurdles. My wife and I were welcomed but not over pursued, we went to our usual spot in any church, as close to the front as possible, because we are worshippers and like to be close to word when it's delivered. I'll just say we were as comfortable and free to worship as anywhere we have ever been. The series, "At the Movies" is the current message and the heart beat that I heard from this body of believers was, "help others grow in a relationship with Christ" which is a good place to be in ministry in my opinion. The series is a great way to be able to give biblical references to cultural and generational issues, because so many of us need visuals to apply the word to real life applications, so glad we had the opportunity to visit and will return next time we are visiting our daughter in Athens. Also if any of the Athens church families are ever in the Douglas GA area come on home at Covenant Church, You will feel at home.

I didn't know what to expect from such a large church. I really enjoyed the teaching on fasting. They had people there to talk to you as a first time visitor and it felt very natural, welcoming and sincere. Daughter really tracked with it and wants to join their college group.

The people are so friendly and helpful. Excellent worship service. I also love that they have different environments for all age kids to attend weather it's for babies to college students they care and do many different activities for them to learn about God.
