“St. Thomas More Catholic Church is one of the best churches in Tulsa. St. Thomas More has come a long way since it broke ground for building in 1973, at a time when the Parish consisted of only 98 families. These families would gather together for worship on the beliefs of Walt Disney Elementary School under the guidance of Father Bernard Jewitt. As the community continued to increase, it was no longer possible to gather at the school, which led to the decision to break ground for a new church. As the Parish continued to grow, so did its staff and buildings. In 1978, St. Thomas More had over 900 families registered and growing, for which the Chapel and daycare building were added to complete the complex in 1982. St. Thomas More has had amazing pastors since it was founded. August 2008 marked the commencement of Father Samuel Perez's tenure as Pastor of St. Thomas More. It sure was a challenge due to the many repairs that had to be done to the entire building, but with his leadership and the help of good stewards and parishioners, the building of St. Thomas More has been fixed and upgraded to the best of its capacity.
