“The Rawls Course was designed by the architect Tom Doak and was created for Texas Tech University, built on a flat cotton field on the high plains. The golf course features a 7,207-yard, par-72 layout that embodies Doak's architectural and strategic philosophies. Doak moved 1.3 million cubic yards of topsoil and shaped the earth to mimic the land east and south of Lubbock, where the great plains suddenly begin to fall into the valleys and canyons of the Caprock region. The driving range includes teeing areas on three sides and a special hitting bay facility for the golf team. The golf course offers a Junior League Golf program with PGA Golf Professionals coaching the team.”
